Why I can
do this
I have been working for international companies for more than 30 years, at least for 15 years I have been living and working in Russia and Ukraine.
During this time, I managed employees in multicultural teams and worked closely with business partners in Central Asian countries such as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and China.
I built my career in retail and multichannel business with the focus on purchases, marketing and controlling. I was also responsible for managing people, developing the corporate culture and realizing the business strategy – in multicultural teams in different countries.
The intercultural competencies were enormously important the achieve the goals
- to organize the successful team work, to build the trust
- to implement optimal organizational structures – respecting the cultural differences
- to develop the important processes of decision making and constructive dialogue – following the agreements and main principles
- to fix the collective and personal responsibilities, to give and to accept feedback
- to adopt the corporate evaluation process and principles
- to fix the ways for problem solving – conflict management
- to work out time management rules and practices
- the daily integration of different communication styles (acceptance, learning, understanding, application)
- to build and to manage the efficient teams
What challenges should we face now?
In the current situation, in new markets, intercultural skills have become very important in cooperation with our new partners and in daily life together. However, intercultural differences between the people in our countries also become visible, which we can identify, analyze and overcome together.
